Affno, Sri Lanka’s leading software engineering company with a suite of Knowledge Management software products, has become the most awarded software company in the history of the National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) after its achievements at the latest awards ceremony.
Held for the 9th year, these awards are organised by the British Computer Society (BCS), with the support of the Sri Lanka Association for Software Industry (SLASI), the Software Exporters Association (SEA), the Infotel Society and the Universities of Colombo and Moratuwa.
Affno said in a statement it first entered this keenly contested competition five years ago and since then have won 11 medals of which seven have been golds. In addition, Affno have been the recipient of the special award given at this event by organisations such as MTV, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
The NBQSA recognizes and honours significant technological developments and innovation within Sri Lanka’s software industry.
Affno set this record at the gala dinner last week where the 2007 awards were presented amidst a large and distinguished gathering representing the cream of Sri Lanka’s software industry. There Affno won the Overall Gold in addition to winning the Gold in the E-Government category for the third consecutive year as well as the Gold in the General Applications category, which was the second most keenly contested category this year. The special award presented by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) was also made to Affno this year. Commenting on his company’s success, Affno’s CEO, Suren Kannangara said, “We are yet a relatively young company. We just completed seven years of existence and are now a team of nearly 80 professionals.
Our products that are winning awards now are the result of many person-years of intense research and development.” |
