Transfer of funds causes difficulties

Around Rs 70 million due to the Samurdhi Fund and the Tea Shakthi Farmers Society and used to pay for road construction work has not been paid back so far by the Government.

The funds which were collected by residents in the area and given to around 28 to 30 societies had been used for road construction and the non availability of money to pay back the funds has inconvenienced many persons. Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake said he was unaware of this matter and promised to inquire about it from the Provincial Highways Ministry.
