The historic Kandy Lake built during the reign of King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe - the last King of Kandy - is to have a fountain almost at the centre of the Lake.
Kandy Lake is being rehabilitated at a cost of more than Rs 70 million and nearly ninety percent of the work has been completed, according to the Central Province Irrigation Director Mrs. Chandra Godaliyadde.
The idea of erecting a fountain was mooted to President Mahinda Rajapaksa in September.
The lake will be provided with a fountain now, resembling the fountain at Lake Geneva in Switzerland, but its height has not been estimated as yet.
