Kandy drivers beware

Errant drivers who ignore road rules at pedestrian crossings will be sternly dealt with, Kandy traffic police said. Inspector Ajith Dharmapala said in the past too many drivers who caused accidents on the zebra crossing were arrested and remanded with most offending drivers being under the influence of liquor.

ASP Sisira Weerakoon said he deployed policemen to nab these errant drivers and was hard on them, adding that already five persons, including two school children, had to be hospitalized with serious injuries due to such offenders.
