Macau games draw to a close

Sri Lanka finished in the 19th position out of 45 participating nations when the second Asian Indoor Athletic Meet drew to a close at Macau yesterday. Out of the 45 countries that participated 22 finished with medals against their names.

With two ‘silver’ medals against their name, Sri Lanka became the top South Asian country even ahead of their giant neighbour India. Sri Lanka’s two medals came in the 400metres men’s event and the 4x400 men’s relay event.Though there were 17 events on schedule Sri Lanka took part in only four events with a contingent that comprised 20 athletes.
