First ever building materials supermarket

The average man builds a house only once in his lifetime. For the most part, it’s a case of trial and error, mostly error. The Mansion Hypermall, Sri Lanka’s first ever building materials Super Mall at Nawala, has been designed to make sure that the trial is easier and the errors, less.

Priyantha Abeykoon, the Head of Sales, at an on-site media conference, disclosed the features of this new concept of a hardware supermarket, the foremost being the convenience of the mall, as a consumer is able to find everything from nails to roofing materials in the same shop.

The problem faced by many contractors today is the time factor. In order to deal with busy schedules and long working hours, the Hypermall is open from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm all 7 days of the week. In the same context, buying large amount of hardware materials would also entail carrying considerable cash. To avoid this problem, the Hypermall is equipped with credit card facilities, a feature seen in very few hardware stores. Added to this, the Hypermall has a website and Virtual mall where online browsing and purchases can be done. This extends their consumer base to foreign consumers as well.

The Mansions Hypermall is an interesting showroom, spacious and accommodating. Most of the varieties of brands being offered are presented cleverly and shown to their best advantage. On the subject of these goods, Group Director S.C. Weerasekera says that the Hypermall consists of the best products available, belonging to quality Sri Lankan manufacturers and world renowned brand names. He also says that all products are originals with none of the duplicates found in your average hardware store.

Weerasekera also pointed out that without a proper electrician or plumber; even quality hardware products might be misused or wasted. Hence, the mall offers these services if required and transportation services to construction sites as well. “I think we have provided the ultimate solution,” the Group Director says, and goes on to say that they have condensed all the requirements of a hardware buyer.

The Mansions Hypermall is an interesting addition to the now prevalent trend of convenience shopping- it looks like shopping for hardware will soon become as easy as shopping for your weekly groceries.
