Awarded Int’l Green Apple Environmental Award
Padmakantha Wanduragala won a ‘Silver’ award for his research on an environment friendly fertilizer, while reading for his Ph.D.
Director of the Post-Graduate Institute of Agriculture Professor Athula Perera announced at the 19th Congress of the institute held at the Plant Genetic Resource Centre, Gannoruwa, that Mr. Wanduragala, a student attached to the institute had won the prestigious ‘International Green Apple Environmental Award’.
The presentation was made at a ceremony at the House of Commons in London on November 9. The Silver Award was for screening an environmentally friendly bio fertilizer for rice cultivation in Sri Lanka. Mr. Wanduragala is an old boy of Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala and the son of Mr. Felix Wanduragala and the late Mrs. Muriel Wanduragala of Kurunegala. |
