BoC wins Corporate Citizens’award

The Bank of Ceylon won the award for education and training for its ‘Viyaparika A-Z’ programme that nurtures island-wide entrepreneur development at the recent Corporate Citizens Awards 2007 organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The bank developed this innovative educational & training programme giving entrepreneurs the practical knowledge, insights and training needed to plan, start, fund, manage and develop a business. By motivating people even with a lower education to start a business and earn money, it provides a viable strategy for poverty alleviation in areas with lesser employment opportunities, the bank said.
