Six metres of inspiration

Inspired by life, trees, birds, rain, music, paintings and sculpture, the six metres of Satya Paul creativity will be showcased in all its glory at the Oak Room of the Cinnamon Grand on December 12. Presented by haute couture fashion boutique Aashkii, which houses the largest collection of Satya Paul saris in Colombo, The Satya Paul Fashion Show Colombo 2007 will showcase 48 unique Satya Paul creations modelled by 12 of Sri Lanka’s top models and choreographed and produced by award winning choreographer Brian Kerkoven.

Managing Director of Aashkii Jaishree Jayesingha says, “The sari has today become a stylish and sophisticated ‘must have’ in any woman’s wardrobe, versatile for both the traditional wearer and the modern woman. Each Satya Paul sari, with its own distinct personality is a six metre painting that tells its own story.” “The play with colour and innovative fabric and embellishments enhances the beauty and elegance of the enterprising, sensitive and tres chic woman of today.

“With its vivid colours, innovative silhouettes and brilliant textures, the Satya Paul creation brings a sense of celebration and femininity to the wearer.” The 1 ½ hour long show preceded by cocktails and a sumptuous cocktail menu served up by host hotel Cinnamon Grand is a fundraiser in aid of ‘The Children Heart Project of Sri Lanka’- a government approved charity organization which funds heart surgery on children.

Explains Satya Paul designer Puneet Nanda who will also be in Colombo for the show: “The Satya Paul label’s mission is to serve its muse, the Satya Paul customer. She is the global woman of today - intelligent, responsive, fulfilling many roles and secure in her own skin.“We use colour and print, textile and texture, line and silhouette, but most of all, a sensibility that reaches beyond pure fashion and has everything to do with style.”

The box plan is available at Aashkii at No 1, Maitland Crescent, Colombo 7 and at the Business Centre of the Cinnamon Grand. Print media sponsors are Daily Mirror, The Sunday Times and Hi!! and Electronic media sponsors are Channel 1 MTV and Yes FM.
