SLMC fires 2 MPs who did not cross

The two SLMC MPs who declined to cross over to the opposition with their leader Rauff Hakeem and voted for the Budget in parliament have been stripped of their party positions and sacked, party sources said.

They said the decision to fire S.M. Nizamudeen, who is the party’s Constitutional Affairs Director, and K. A. Baiz, the National Organiser, was taken at a high command meeting presided by Mr. Hakeem yesterday.
