zMessenger powers Havana Nights at Club Nuovo

zMessenger was a key sponsor for Havana Nights - an annual theme party organized by the dynamic Rotaract Club of Colombo, in aid of their Community Service endeavours, a press release said. The event that recently concluded at the Club Nuovo, Taj Samudra was a sell out and continues to draw more and more revelers every year. zMessenger identified the youth of Colombo within their consented database and dispatched hundreds of SMS’ to advertise the event and support its cause for charity.

zMessenger and the Rotaract Club of Colombo partnered with the objective of interacting with the social capital’s youth in an innovative and effective manner, optimizing on modern connectivity. Among the suite of entertainment presented for the night, the competition to choose the best dressed in theme at the Havana Nights proved a major crowd pleaser. The unique selection mechanism of SMS voting for the competition was powered and sponsored by zMessenger. 5 short listed contestants paraded on the dance floor, after which the crowd was asked to cast their votes by texting in to the zMessenger hotline 0777 670670, with the number assigned to their favorite contestant. The competition drew in over 150 SMS votes from an estimated crowd of 350. Beautiful Ms. Saranga Ranasinghe emerged winner with 35% of the votes in her favor. Marketing Manager for zMessenger Ms. Miranthi Dole presented her with a valuable gift voucher from a leading Clothes store in Colombo.

The event was sold out for the third consecutive year with its limited yet effective advertising campaign – the proceeds of the event will be channeled to the Club’s numerous Community projects during the course of the year 2008. Past projects of the Rotaract Club of Colombo have included the sponsorship of a long term English teaching programme for internally displaced children in Kalpitiya. In addition the club’s involvement in education has ranged from painting schools to providing stationary and books for underprivileged school children across Sri Lanka.
