The Dawson Tower |
The Kadugannawa area is turning to be an eyesore with the maintenance of the town neglected and the area near the Kadugannawa Pass polluted with visitors littering the place and the authorities failing to clean up the area.
Though hundreds of visitors stop at the incline to witness the beautiful scenery or purchase fruits from the vendors along the road the local authorities have made no provision to dispose of the garbage.
Remains of meal packets, polythene sheets and paper wrappings are seen scattered at the end of the day.
In addition there are no toilet facilities for those who stop over here.
The condition near the famous Captain William Dawson tower, constructed to mark the completion of the Colombo - Kandy Road is also the same.

Haphazard parking of vehicles |
Remains of meal packets and papers are scattered around and again there are no toilet facilities here for the visitors.
The condition near the main bus stand and the railway station is no better, residents say.
Unauthorized constructions have come up in the town and the local authorities have not taken steps to remove them.
Vehicles are parked on the main road in a haphazard manner and as a result pedestrians are inconvenienced.
The three-wheelers also do not have a proper location to park creating another problem. |
