CEAT wins 11 awards at National Quality Competition

Top tyre manufacturer CEAT Sri Lanka scooped an impressive 11 awards at the recent National Quality and Productivity awards.

Four teams from the company’s Kalutara and Kelaniya plants participated in the main categories of “Continuous Improvement (CI) Teams.”

The team “Challenge” from CEAT’s Kalutara plant won the most prestigious award “Overall Winner of CI Teams” and the company won nine out of the ten available awards in the CI team category of the competition, a company press release said.
CEAT also achieved the first three positions for CI Teams in the Manufacturing Sector taking, “The Winner”, “First Runner up” and “Second Runner up awards” and five Merit Awards for the Best Data Collection and Current Situation Analysis, the Best Description of Intangible Benefits, the Most Effective Solution and Implementation, the Best Use of QC Tools and the Best Process of Standardization.

This is the third consecutive year that CEAT Sri Lanka was adjudged the island’s best in Continuous Improvement (CI) Teams in the Manufacturing Sector.

Commenting on these latest achievements, CEAT Sri Lanka Managing Director Oscar Braganza said: “These awards are a proof of the emphasis placed on creating a quality culture at CEAT Sri Lanka and are a tribute to all our teams who worked on continues improvement projects in 2007”.

In addition to these awards two representatives of CEAT who participated in the Poster Competition also received the First Runner Up and Second Runner up awards.
