Bee sting at MC

Golden Globe-nominated computer animated film ‘Bee Movie’ is now being screened at the Majestic Cinema, Colombo. Drected by Simon J. Smith and Steve Hickner, the DreamWorks animation, narrates the tale of Barry B. Benson, a bee who has just graduated from college sues humans when he discovers that humans steal honey belonging to the Bees.

Starring Jerry Seinfeld, Renée Zellweger, Matthew Broderick, Megan Mullally, John Goodman, Chris Rock, Kathy Bates, Eddie Izzard, and Patrick Warburton, it was nominated as the Best Animated Feature at Golden Globe 2007. The first motion-picture script to be written by Jerry Seinfeld, Spike Feresten was the co-writer and the film was released on November 2, 2007.

Having just graduated from three days of college, a bee by the name of Barry Bee Benson (Jerry Seinfeld) finds himself disillusioned with the prospect of having only one career choice - honey. As he ventures outside of the hive for the first time, he breaks one of the cardinal rules of the bee world and talks to a human, a New York City florist named Vanessa (Renée Zellweger). He is shocked to discover that humans have been stealing and eating bees' honey for centuries, and ultimately realize that his true calling in life is to set the world right by suing the human race for stealing their precious honey.

Because of this, Barry wins the lawsuit, and all honey in the world is confiscated and returned to the bees. But now, Barry and Vanessa realize that now all the honey in the world is back, every bee has been put out of a job, and thus cannot earn money for their families. Barry also realizes that without bees pollinating the flowers, the plant life is dying. To set things right, he and Vanessa find a way to re-pollinate the flowers by going to the final rose show in California, and bringing them as luggage to the airport. Afterwards, the Bees get all their jobs back and give the honey back to humans, realizing that without their jobs they are not truly happy when they had all their honey, though the humans and bees treat each other better now.

The 'Bee Movie' will be followed by action adventure 'Eragon', a film based on the fantasy novel written by Christopher Paolini. Directed by first-timer Stefen Fangmeier, Eragon tells the story of a young farm boy and his dragon, Saphira, as they venture into the lands of Alagaësia.

Twentieth Century Fox, released on December, 2006, the movie stars Edward Speleers, Jeremy Irons, and John Malkovich. A boy named Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest. At first, he thinks it's a lucky discovery, something that will bring meat to his poor family for the winter. Instead, it brings a dragon hatchling, and Eragon is soon thrust into a world of magic and power through which he and the dragon must navigate.
