Petes show their prowess

St. Peter’s College showed yet again why they are superior in junior cricket when they bagged the under-15 Division One championship for 2007 beating Wesley, Thurstan and President’s Colleges in the quarter, semi and final respectively.They have also being fortunate to be tutored by the industrious coach L. H. Sunil under whose coaching the Peterites pocketed the title in 1994, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2005 and 2007. They were also runners-up in 1995 and 1997.

The 2007 final was a cakewalk for the Peterites who routed President’s College for 86 after declaring at 248 for 8.

Among the players who shone were skipper Denham Perera (380 runs), Nilochana Perera (412 runs and 36 wickets), Danushka Kodikara (345 runs), Kaushal Rodrigo (395 runs), Dirk Muller (512 runs), Asif Mackey (35 wickets), Ryan Wijesuriya (24 wickets), Trishan Fernando (21 wickets) and Janitka Kannangara (20 wickets)
