Potential listing at Kandy bourse

The Colombo Stock Exchange, Kandy branch, is pursuing some prospective firms to list, but the slowdown in the economy are halting these companies, according to informed CSE sources.“Senkadagala Finance (Pvt) Limited, Sinhaputra Finance (Pvt) Limited and Lucky Land Biscuits were approached relentlessly during the last three years, but the difficult macro-economic environment kept them from going for Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), ” one source said.

“Senkadagala Finance does not want to list at the moment, because presently their capital situation is very good. Others who showed an interest to list initially do not want to do so now due to other problems,” he added.

Presently Central Finance (Pvt) Limited, Mahaweli Reach Hotel, Kandy Hotels Corporation (under Ceylon Hotels Corporation) are the only three companies from Kandy that have been listed.
