Peace committees to maintain vigil

Police have started setting up peace committees in all Grama Niladhari divisions in Kandy District in a bid to improve security, Senior Superintendent J.B.Gunawardena told Kandy Times. He said arrangements are being made to set up peace committees in 57 Grama Niladhari divisions.

The main objective of the peace committees will be to maintain vigilance in their respective areas by keeping watch for strangers coming into the area. Meeting with religious representatives and Grama Niladharis were held in the area recently.
