Aluth Sal Mangalaya

Aluth Sal Mangalaya (new rice ceremony) at the Sri Dalada Maligawa was held in the inner Shrine Room on Duruthu Poya Day in accordance with the old rites and customs.

New rice from the harvest was distributed earlier to the four Devales and Vihares from the Sri Dalada Maligawa granaries situated at Pallekelle.

The Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela and the chief monk in charge of the inner shrine room Ven. Tibbotuwawe Medhankara Thera offered the rice in a bowl to the Sacred Tooth Relic.
