Being unique

By Natasha Fernandopulle

Be it a birthday party, anniversary, wedding or a concert, these events need to be well organised, starting from a theme to food to sponsors. Every single detail needs to be looked into, as every single detail matters, in order that the event is a success. However, most of us lead very hectic lives due to our studies, or work or various other commitments. Therefore organising something or anything can be pretty darn arduous!

This is where an event management company would be of great service to you, and such a company which has come up recently is Celeste Event Planning & Management, which is a subsidiary of Celeste International (Pvt) Ltd. What the company aims to do, is to bring about a new and fresh face to the event management market in Sri Lanka.

Run by a group of young people, they feel that what will allow them to stand out from the rest, will be the amount of effort and attention to detail they strive to provide to every single client of theirs. They understand how tough and tiring and not forgetting how time consuming it can be to organise a small thing like a birthday party to a big event like a wedding or a concert therefore, a lot of risk and pressure is also involved in putting such an event together.

The staff at Celeste is courteous and friendly and will make sure that the event will not just be successful but memorable as well. They understand that every single minute detail counts and will simply enhance the event, therefore the staff is trained to look into every aspect when organising the event. And they also understand that it is their job to make sure your every need is fulfilled.

Celeste organises events such as weddings, bridal showers, parties, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, fashion shows, concerts (musical), stage events, sporting events, charity events, meetings, reunions, awards nights, plays and office parties. These can all be done just as you want it and all you need to do is tell them…

Upon completing his degree in the USA, Varun Chandramohan (21), CEO of the company, said that he felt he needed to come back to Sri Lanka and start this company up. Therefore, he along with a group of friends decided that they would get started with this event management company and this is exactly what they have done.

The first event they will be organising will be Traffique – a traffic light theme party, a first for Sri Lanka. Such theme parties even though not common in Sri Lanka are very common in countries like the US. The idea of having these three colours is to clearly demarcate those at the party, in that wearing 'red' would mean you are 'taken,' 'green' would mean you are 'single' and 'yellow' would mean you are 'not sure.' The party is to celebrate Valentine's Day with a difference and the reason they came up with this theme party is mainly because they "wanted to come up with something different," said Sashane Perera(20), one of the organisers of the party, the others being Abheeth Salgado(18), Joseph Gunawardena (21) and Dinendri Indatissa(19) and Stephanie Gonawala (19).

Sashane also went on to say that, "when you think about parties these days, what would probably first come into mind are beach parties," thus the reason for doing something different. They understand that it can be quite a risk, because such a party has not been held here in Sri Lanka before, and even the club owner had been sceptical but they are confident that it will go off well.

The organisers also feel that having a complicated theme is attractive and the challenge will make them strive to "make it happen!" This event is just one of many to look forward to by Celeste, during 2008. One such event to look forward to will be a concert in March, which will be a two hour concert without any breaks in terms of introduction of bands and so on, it will be all about the music!

To kick off the evening, at Traffique there will be a warm up, of sorts, for what is to come, and also allow people to come in and get comfortable with the party, by having an acoustic performance starting at 8pm with a guest performances by Sean Perera, Azlan and Sankha and Ranga. Segmented music will follow with a '90's hour' with two guest DJs as well the in house DJ and then followed by a 'retro hour,' and then the party is set to be well on its way!

This colourful party will be held on Friday, February 15, 2008, at The Zetter, tickets will be available at The Zetter and Brite Video Vision (located next to 'Sensal' in Thimbirigasyaya). Tickets purchased prior to the event will be priced at Rs.750, while those purchased at the gate will be priced at Rs.1000. In addition, if you purchase a minimum of 10 tickets, they can be delivered to you.
