Revelations makes it to the Top 10

Sri Lankan choristers have been listed among the world’s best with the all male group ‘The Revelations’ making it to the Top 10 in the Pop, Jazz and Gospel category as listed by the Musica Mundi World Ranking List presented by the Interkultur Foundation, the organizers of the world’s largest choral competitions.

The Musica Mundi World Ranking List gives the best choirs from around the world based on the evaluation of around 1200 choirs which take part in the world’s largest choral competitions.

The Revelations who participated at the Asian Choir Games held in November 2007 in Jakarta Indonesia, did Sri Lanka proud by winning a gold medal and also becoming the overall category champions in the ‘Gospel and Spiritual’ category. By this the Revelations was awarded the title ‘Champion of the Asian Choir Games’ in this category.

Leader of the Revelations Sanjeev Jayaratnam expressed his delight at the ranking. “This is the first time a Sri Lankan choir has achieved such a high ranking and we are happy that we have played a part in placing Sri Lanka on the choral music map.” The Revelations will take part at the World Choir Games in Austria later this year.
