Doyan Tita felicitated

Former Cricketing giant Tita Nathanielsz who is presently the Patron of the Colombo Colts Cricket Club was honoured by the membership with the launch and official opening of the TITA NATHANIELSZ LOUNGE. A capacity crowd of members and guests were present when the ceremony was conducted by Mr. K. Mathivanan, the President of the Club. Nathanielsz responded with fun filled stories of his illustrious career as he captained the Colts for a few years in the early fifties and then played for Ceylon against England, the Commonwealth XI and Pakistan. Nathanielsz had a freak 3 step run up with a semi square delivery sending the ball down with speed and dangerous bounce. Culled by Aubrey Collette for The Sunday Times sports page Nathanielsz was called THE HUMAN CATAPULT…In his brief speech he made special reference to the encounters with M. Sathasivam, Stanley Jayasinghe and C.I. Gunasekera some of which he won and some lost. Nathanielsz was President of the Club in the Centenary year and is now Patron. He has been a member of the Club for 68 years. Stanley Jayasinghe and Ranjith Fernando both special invitees paid tremendous tributes to Nathanielsz and his success studded cricketing career.
