Claymore defused at Mahawewa

A claymore bomb fixed to a transformer at Mahawewa on the main Colombo-Chilaw road was located last morning by CEB employees who went on clearing up work. On attempting to remove the overgrown weeds they came upon the claymore attached to the transformer.

They immediately intimated the news to the Marawila police. Chilaw SSP L G Kularatne soon arrived on the scene and cleared the people from its vicinity while stopping traffic. He then informed the Army bomb disposal squad at Puttalam which raced to the scene and defused the five kilo bomb.
