Raigam recognizes
talent in teledramas

In its fourth successive tele award ceremony, Raigam Tele Award- 2007, the Kingdom of Raigam, a truly national company is to acclaim, appreciate and felicitate the talents of teldrama artistes and contribute to create a better teledrama industry.
Organized by a heart winning Sri Lankan Company, the Kingdom of Raigam, this grand ceremony for both actors and technicians in the miniscreen will be staged on May 9, 2008 at 7.00 p.m. at the BMICH Colombo.
Speaking about the event, Dr. Ravi Liyanage, Chairman of the company said the main aim of the award ceremony is to promote a rich teledrama culture in the country by promoting better creations by the next generation.
The tele-dramas that completed their telecast during the year upto December 31, 2007 in any television channel in Sri Lanka (excluding cable TV and subscribed connections) will be eligible to participate at this awards ceremony and they have been arranged under three categories namely weekly episode, single episode and multi episode mega tele-dramas, the category which was recognized for the first time as a trend in the tele-drama industry.

The other specialties of the Raigam Tele-awards include the appreciation of a few veteran artistes and institutions that contributed to uplift the Tele-drama industry by awarding Special Awards of Appreciation and the award of the Prathibha Pranama Award to a legend in the field."It is important not to forget the veterans in this field and specially the sponsors who promoted teledrama as an industry in this country," Dr. Liyanage, the Chairman elaborated.
The Most Popular Tele-drama, Actor and the Actress will be selected on the viewers preference for which a SMS poll will be held from April 1, 2008 to 12 mid-night on May 7, 2008.
The viewers are invited to vote for their favourite stars and Tele-dramas on 0773-337337 during this period. Twenty five winners who nominate winners correctly are to be granted two invitations each to witness the event.
This year sixty teledramas telecast weekly, and four daily telecasts and eighty single-episode teledramas are to participate in the competition. And awards will be given under twenty seven categories.‘We want to appreciate the talents of less highlighted artistes who work hard behind the screen for the betterment of this medium’ said Mr. Amarasinghe, Managing Director of the company.
‘The Kingdom of Raigam, a ten year old company started this ceremony four years ago, as a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility activities has identified the necessity to assist the tele-drama industry, being the most popular entertainment media of the common people of the country’ he added.
The categories under which awards are given are; Best Tele-drama of the year, Best Tele-drama Director of the year, Best Tele-drama Actor of the year, Best Tele-drama Actress of the year, Best Tele-drama Supporting Actor of the year, Best Tele-drama Supporting Actress of the year, Best Tele-drama Script-writer of the year, Best Tele-drama of the year, Best Tele-drama Lighting Technician of the year, Best Tele-drama Editor of the year, Best Tele-drama Audio Recordist of the year, Best Tele-drama Art Director of the year, Best Tele-drama Make-up Artist of the year, Best Tele-drama Music Director of the year, Best Tele-drama Lyricist of the year, Best Tele-drama Songster of the year, The Best Tele-drama Songstress of the year, Best Tele-drama (Single Episode) of the year, Creative Mega Tele-drama of the Year, Popular Tele-drama Actor of the Year, Popular Tele-drama Actress of the Year, Most popular Tele-drama of the Year, The Popular Mega Tele-drama of the Year, Special Jury Awards- 5, Award for the Best Child Performer, Special Awards of Appreciations-5, Prathibha Pranana Award. |
