‘Flavours of Rome’ at the Bay Leaf
Colombo's finest Italian restaurant, The Bay Leaf, permeates with the flavours and aromas of Rome this month with a special promotion which began from Friday 15 March, where a variety of culinary dishes from the different regions of Rome will take pride of place.
The appetising signature dishes which launched the promo are Insalata Di Prosciutto (mixed green lettuce with fresh Mozzarella, tomato, grilled vegetables and parma ham with an Italian dressing), Pasta E Faglioli (Roman chickpea soup & pasta) and Pollo Alla Romana (chicken medallions panfried with parma ham, parmesan cheese, sage, mushrooms and white wine). Together with this is also the Pizza of the Month - 'Pizza Alla Bay Leaf' with its generous share of mozzarella, garlic, anchovies, fetta cheese, pesto, sundried tomatoes and black olives.
The Bay Leaf also runs a Pizza Promotion in April where two pizzas bought, bring with them a generous portion of Bread Pudding free of charge or Bread Pudding & 200 grams of savoury biscuits free with every 3 Pizzas purchased.
Baskets of fresh vegetables from the salubrious gardens of Nuwara Eliya are also a special feature at the Bay Leaf on Saturday and Sundays.
Among the fare offered are Baby Potatoes, Broccoli, Celery, Cherry Tomatoes, Chow Chow, Ice Burg Lettuce, Rhubarb, Greenhouse Tomatoes and Turnips to name a few. Available as hampers in baskets (small, medium and large), they can be coupled with breads, pastas and honey. Orders can be placed for hampers to be made up at the beginning of the week in weights and quantities of the customer's choice. The vegetables can also be purchased by weight without the option of a hamper.
The popular Deli at the Bay Leaf features marinated Angus rump steaks and marinated lamb cutlets. And with Easter literally 'around the corner', a must-experience delight are the perennial favourites such as Hot Cross Buns, Easter cookies and Easter cup cakes from mid March. |
