UNIDO to assist affected families in Trinco

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has formulated a livelihood assistance programme to be implemented in 14 Grama Niladhari divisions in the Trincomalee district in collaboration with the Industrial Development Ministry.
The objective is to uplift the living standard of families affected by the tsunami and the ethnic conflict.

The programme would be implemented through the Trincomalee District Chamber of Commerce and Industries. The villages of Pansalgodella, Meegaswewa, Poramadu,and Seenipura in Kantale DS division, Galmetiyawa, Pudukuddiruppu and Potkerni in Tampalakamam DS division, Naduootu, Pooavarasntheivu, Ayliayadi and Soorankal in Kinniya DS division and Gopalapuram, Kumburupiddy and Sambaltivu in Kuchchaveli DS division have been selected to implement the two-year livelihood assistance programme.
