A tribute to colour

In a world that has a myriad of colours, dedicating an exhibition to these would be quite a feat. For Asif Jiffry and Charithra Hettia-rachchi, two talented young photographers, it is a pleasurable experience. From scenes of a flower trough on a windowsill in Spain and a street painter's tools in Tropez, to wildlife of Yala, the work of these two artists offers vibrant glimpses of all forms of life as we know it.

While their styles differ, Asif and Charithra have at least one thing in common. They both took an interest in photography at the age of eight. This exhibition is Asif Jiffry's second, his first being at the Barefoot Gallery last year.

This year, his friend Charithra Hettiarachchi joins him for Colurz!, a photography exhibition which is on today, March 30 at the Barefoot Gallery from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Asif's passion for photography is fuelled by his love for travel; in fact, he claims to get itchy feet if he does not travel abroad every two months.

Charithra Hettiarachchi's art also captures the unexpected. His love is for wildlife, but he has also captured the beauty and splendour of some of Sri Lanka's famous heritage sites such as the dagobas of Polonnaruwa. Inspired by all that is essentially Sri Lankan, Charithra travels the island in pursuit of the unexpected.
