Flying start

It is with great appreciation I write this to all concerned. A flyover for the Colombo/Kandy Road, near Thorana junction was a long overdue need. The time spent to cross the railway line, during rush hours, was sometimes more than 30 minutes. With this flyover coming up, the productivity of the people who use this road will, no doubt, be improved, in addition to the saving on fuel, and maintenance cost of vehicles.

The most encouraging aspect of this massive project was that it took less than three months, the speediest infrastructure development project we have ever witnessed in our country.

I trust the project team will complete the second phase at the same speed, the benefits of which can be enjoyed by the entire country in the years to come. If similar projects can be identified and implemented wherever necessary it will be of great value to the people.
