‘Elizabeth’, The Golden Age starring Oscar nominated Cate Blanchett and directed by ‘Bandit Queen’ famed Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor is now being screened at the Majestic cinema, Colombo. Based on the changing religious and political tides of late 16th century Europe, Queen Elizabeth finds her rule openly challenged by the Spanish King Philip II -- with his powerful army and sea-dominating armada -- determined to restore England to Catholicism.
‘Sadagunakaraya’ is a miniplay revolving around the life and times of several generations that lived after the colonial rule.
Directed by Ashoka Athaudahetti, produced by veteran actress Wasanthi Chathurani, the miniplay runs through out six generations from 1948 to early 90's.
‘Suppadevi’ is a brave and a heroic character different to the eastern traditional woman’ says Anoma Jinadaree, internationally awarded actress who has returned to fame with her latest role as 'Suppadevi' in the English version of Prof. Sarachchandra's acclaimed theatrical production 'Sinhabahu'.‘She was very bold both deciding to live with a beast 'Sinhabahu' and also to leave him when it was necessary," says Anoma who says that it is one of the challenging roles.....
