Looking back at the Flashback Show
Once again Lite 89.2 succeeded in bringing the best crowd Colombo had seen in recent times with a very successful Flashback Show. From music to retro outfits to eccentric behaviour, this year’s Flashback Show was entertaining with the loyal Lite listener grooving to the retro hits of the 60s, 70s & 90s. It's safe to say that the night was a complete success with Club Nuovo at the Taj Samudra being packed to its full potential.
The event is one of TNL Radio Network's most successful Event brands, conceptualised and managed in house. The show featured some of Sri Lanka's best retro DJs: Wendell, Bunty and Ben.
The venue was transformed into a retro hub with peace signs shining with luminosity and smiley faces hanging down from each end. Lite 89.2 brought in the ambience it is renowned for.
Colombo's party folk were present, with each and every individual adding a bit of bling bling in their attire. From the 'real' Afro hairdo to the glitzy dresses, the Flashback Show was memorable indeed.
The 'Schweppes – Mix with best' competition where four individuals had to drink a 1.5 litre bottle of Schweppes each, was entertaining. Meanwhile, the karaoke competition where three lucky ladies had to sing along to Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" had the crowd going wild over the vocal talent these ladies had to offer. The Flashback King and Queen were elegantly matched whereas the Flashback Show Best Dancer boogied all night long to the retro hits.
Lite 89.2 'Music to suit your every mood' made the impossible, possible as this year's event was bigger and better than last year. In fact, there were many confirmed whispers among the crowd saying they had got their monies worth.
The Flashback Show was like taking a journey back in time from the smooth sounds of Marvin Gaye to the king of pop Michael Jackson. Schweppes – Mix with the Best and Hitachi – Inspire the Next brought to you by Singer, made their presence known.
The Flashback Show was attended by the young and the young at heart, the unvoiced and the extravagant.
Well done Lite 89.2! One might say that this will not be the end… Keep your suspenders and bell bottoms well preserved because you'll never know when you'll need them next… |
