Sri Lankan scientific ingenuity was showcased for the first time at the recently concluded Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in Atlanta, Georgia last month.

Winners of the Sri Lanka Science and Exhibition Fair (SLSEF) 2007 – Yasith Kanchana Lokuge from Ananda College, Praveej Malinda Jayasinghe from St. Anthony’s College and Sajeewa Dinesh Hendurugoda from Nugawela Central College – represented Sri Lanka at this prestigious event. Success at last year’s Junior Inventor of the Year competition organized by the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) enabled the students to enter the SLSEF, which resulted in this rare opportunity to participate in an international competition, an Intel press release said.

Intel EM Ltd facilitated the students’ trip to the US. Indika de Zoysa, Country Manager, Intel -Sri Lanka Liaison office said “The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair provided these talented youngsters with significant international exposure and a unique educational opportunity. Intel EM believes in enabling student ingenuity and is geared towards supporting such projects, which act as a catalyst for inventive thinking.
