Two LTTE boats destroyed off Pooneryn, eight sea tigers killed

The elite Special Boat Squadron (SBS) sailors of Sri Lanka Navy attacked and destroyed two LTTE assault boats, appeared off Pooneryn Sea last night and killed at least eight sea tiger cadres, the Defence Ministry said.
Navy boats patrolling in the area detected the two terror boats moving close to the coast from Pooneryn to Kalmunai point (K-point) around 11 PM and sailors launched a surprise attack, the Defence Ministry said. br>
All eight LTTE cadres onboard were confirmed killed in the attack. A search operation has been launched in the area, the Defence Ministry added. |
