Hambantota doctor shot dead-Police

A 38 year-old female doctor was shot dead by a group of gunmen at her dispensary at Bandagiriya in Hambantota at around 8.30 pm on Monday, police said on Tuesday.

Police spokesman Senior Police Superintendent Ranjith Gunasekera said the assailants had fired shots at Dr W.D. Lakshmi Indunil at her dispensary, fatally injuring her. There was no immediate information as to the motive of the attack.

But Mr Gunasekera said some people at the dispensary were able to identify the killers. Hambantota Police is investigating.
