Colombo stocks sink, more negative contributors

The Colombo bourse sank on Tuesday with many blue chips recording sharp falls and in addition the bulk of the transactions were on the negative (minus) list, brokers said.

The All Share Index slumped by 43.27 points or 1.98 % to 2,142.26 while the Milanka dropped sharply by 55.43 points or 2.26 % to 2,397.19. Turnover was Rs 121 million.

Brokers said of the 173 companies traded, 117 companies saw prices fall while only 14 saw gains. The balance was unchanged.
