Food convoys leave for Wanni

Food convoys for displaced persons in the Wanni left Vavuniya town today morning, accompanied by World Food Programme officials, a spokesman for the GAs office in Vavuniya said.

Fifty lorries were carrying food and essential items to the displaced.

The food convoy is being accompanied by UN officials and the Government Agent for Kilinochchi, N.K.Vedhanayagam.

The food items are being taken to three locations in the Wanni.
