Lankan court to hear evidence from the US via video conferencing

Evidence through a video conferencing facility will be permitted for the first time in a Sri Lankan court when a money-recovery case is taken up in the Colombo Commercial High Court on Wednesday, court officials said.

A Sri Lankan-born US citizen will give evidence from the US through this facility at 7 am Sri Lanka time in the ongoing case before Commercial High Court Judge, K.T. Chitrasiri. Officials said Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva and other luminaries in the legal field are expected to be present on what is seen as a historic moment.
