EPDP calls for hartal in Jaffna over LTTE attacks on merchant ships

The EPDP led by Minister Douglas Devananda has called for a Hartal in Jaffna on Thursday to protest agaisnt the LTTE's attack on two merchant vessels carrying food and cement to the north.

EPDP cadres have made public annoucements calling the public to close shops and refrain from work to support the hartal, report from Jaffna said.

They have pointed out that the attacks were aimed at disrupting food distribution in the north.
