With the much hyped US presidential election only two days away, local astrologers are also getting into the mix, predicting different outcomes for apparent favourite Democratic candidate Barack Obama who is currently leading the polls, with his Republican rival John McCain trailing far behind.
According to W. R. Perera, a professional astrologer who practices what he calls fine astrology, things are looking rather grim for the Illinois Senator. The stars predict a very grave fate for Obama, says Mr. Perera, as he has a very “unfavourable planetary system developed in the first house.”
Mr. Perera had gone to the extent of writing his predictions to US Ambassador Robert Blake requesting him to send a copy of the letter to the two candidates if possible.
“The way I see it, Obama has more than a 50 percent chance of losing the election, based on his time of birth which I gathered from a newspaper. However there is a far greater chance of him not being present to obtain a victory,” Mr. Perera told The Sunday Times.
He said the presence of Saturn and Mars indicates the possibility of an “incident” occurring some time this year. However, had the elections been held last year, Obama would have won with a landslide as the previous year was very good for him, he says.
Meanwhile Astrologer Senerath Liyanarachchi predicted a victory for Obama who is promising to bring change to Washington, and, by extension, to the whole world.
According to the world’s horoscope, Mr. Liyanarachchi says, there seems to be a sudden advance in the African American community which is a sure sign of an Obama victory.
“There will be change in America’s role in the international arena. As Jupiter will be weakened in December this year, there will be a tremendous progress in the global economy,” he says.
All signs of a Democratic administration, according to almost all the polls conducted in the US. The Obama campaign has consistently been promoting the theme of ‘change’ and a large number of voters are focusing on the ongoing economy crisis in the US. A poll conducted by CNN indicates that 58% percent of all Americans will consider the economy as the number 1 issue when deciding their vote, and a majority of them believe that Obama would do a better job at handling the economy.
Obama is currently leading the national polls by a 6.5 percentage margin with Obama averaging the polls at 50.0% and McCain at 43.5%.. |
