Army Commander's service period extended by one year

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has extended the service period of Army Commander Lt. Gen Sarath Fonseka by one year, Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said Monday.

The Commander's period was due to end on December 18.
