No speakers, parliament adjourns early

Parliament was adjourned more than one and a half hours earlier than scheduled as four speakers listed for the debate were not present in the House today evening.

UNP’s Joseph Michale Perera and Ravi Karunanayaka and Minister Mervyn Silva and TNA MP S.Kishore were listed to speak, but were not present prompting Ven Udawatte Nanda thera who was presiding to adjourn the House 1.40 minutes earlier.

They were due to speak when the votes of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Labour and Foreign Employment Promotion were debated.

UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekara was due to raise an adjournment question at 5.00 pm after the adjournment but he too was not present bringing sittings to an early close..
