A man was killed and two were seriously hurt when their car speeding along the road along the Tissamaharamaya tank bund lost control and plunged into the lake this morning, police said. br>
Police spokesman Ranjit Gunasekera said the driver was killed on the spot while the two passengers in it were rescued and rushed to the Tissamaharama hospital.

SSP Gunasekara said the driver, identified as 34-year-old Indiak Sampath, was wanted in connection with three robberies. Police said initial investigations revealed that the persons in the vehicle were under the influence of liquor. br>
The police spokesman said the vehicle they were traveling in belonged to a doctor.
