Heavy showers displace thousands in East

Thousands of persons have been displaced in the eastern province especially in Trincomalee district due to heavy rain with the onset of the North-East monsoon.

One hundred and seventy families from Kinniya, 72 families from Sumedhagama, 40 families from Azad town in Ampara and 21 families from Arippu, Mahaweligama were displaced due to the heavy showers continuing throughout the week..
