Taxmen crack down on GK depositors

The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has begun investigations into depositors of Golden Key Credit (GK) Card Co. for non payment of taxes on interest income or investing large sums of money seeking high interest rates, IRD sources told The Sunday Times FT. The company is also being probed on tax issues.

 
Conflict of interest issues for new appointee
S. Angammana, who relinquished duties as Commissioner-General of the Inland Revenue Dept (IRD) last week and moved to the Finance Ministry, was on Monday recalled for a temporary, 2-week period to oversee the work of the department, IRD officials said.
