Roaring Royal at it again - drub Mahanama

By Umhar Samsudeen

The roaring Royalists geared up for their ‘big one’ next week with yet another huge win by drubbing Mahanama by 54 points (2 goals and 8 tries) to 13 points (1 goal and 2 penalties) at Longden Place yesterday.

At half time the winners led at 22 points to 13

Flanker Hasthika Bandaranaike opened scoring for Royal as early as the fourth minute of the game while second rower Kalana Amerasinghe followed with another two minutes later. Full back Mushin Faleel added the extra points for the second effort.

In the twentieth minute it was the turn of Faleel to run over the scoring line, but the conversion went astray to put Royal up 17-0.

In the twenty third minute Mahanama opened scoring through a penalty conversion by their second row forward Mahesh Kumaranayake who also put over another penalty five minutes later.

However in between Royal also had planted another try through centre Duminda Attyagalle which also went unconverted.

Just before half time Mahanama did manage to cross the Royal line through winger Chathura Shanaka to which Kumaranayake added the extra points.

The Royal scoring machine kept working even in the second half unhindered.

In this half they scored their tries through flanker Shabil Mohammed, winger Chamara Dabare (2), centre Asif Akram and flanker S. Pathirana. Mushin Faleel added the extra points to the initial try scored by Chamara Dabare.
