Homagama Magistrate T.G.S.A. Perera on Thursday ordered former Attorney General (AG) Mohan Peiris to give evidence at the magisterial inquiry on June 5, into the disappearance of Journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda.The Magistrate earlier on March 26 reserved order, after the State challenged the validity of the transcript copy of the statement made by the former AG in Geneva last year, that Ekneligoda sought asylum in a foreign country.
The case was filed in the Court of Appeal by Sandya and her two sons.
They sought a court order compelling the respondents to produce the missing journalist in court.
They cited DIG CID Nandana Moonasinghe, DIG Jayantha Kulathilake, the HQI Homagama, the IGP and the AG.
Chrismal Warnasuriya with Nalaka Jayasuriya appeared for the complainant.
Deputy Solicitor General Shaveendra Fernando appeared for the Attorney General. |
