St. Anthony’s record first innings win
View(s):St. Anthony’s College Wattala recorded a close first innings victory against Kularatne Buddhist School in their Schools Under-13 Division III cricket match played at Wattala. Dananjaya Samaratunga and Sandun Devinda shone with match bags of three wickets each for St. Anthony’s while R.S.B. Ahalapola picked a rare five-for for Kularatne Buddhist.
Batting first Kularatne Buddhist school were curbed to a meagre total of 64 spearheaded by impressive bowling performances from Dananjaya Samaratunga (3 for 14) and Sandun Devinda (3 for 5). St. Anthony’s too struggled in their reply but a fighting knock of 25 runs by Sadeep Chulara and a cameo knock of 25 not out from Dananjaya Samaratunga helped them reach 87. R.S.B. Ahalapola claimed a five-for for Kularatne Buddhist as T.R. Vimukthi claimed four scalps.
In their second essay Kularatne fought back to record an improved performance as they posted 117 runs with ease. G.P.S. Nanayakkara top scored with a fluent 37.
The Antonian bowling pair Devinda and Samaratunga returned to claim three wickets each in the second essay as well, completing a match-bag of six wickets each.
