Wycherley International School wins final
Wycherley International School’s Under 17 cricketers emerge victorious in the finals of the Inter-International Schools Under 17 Cricket Championships, held at Shalika Grounds on 1st November 2013.
The finals were played against Gateway College Colombo for the C.T.A Schaffter Challenge trophy. This was a 40-over match as it was reduced by 10 overs due to the inclement weather. The Wycherley International School team were all out for 95 runs but Gateway College Colombo were reeled in for 86.
The tournament was worked out over a month, beginning on October 1. Seventeen International Schools vied for the title. In the semi-finals Wycherley trounced Althea International School.
It was a proud moment for Wycherley’s cricketers when they carried away the C.T.A Schaffter Challenge Trophy. The skipper of the Wycherley Under 17 team was Keshawa Gunarathne, and he was assisted by Vice Captain Himal Attanayake.
