19 heralded with Olympic Advanced Sport Management Diploma Awards
View(s):The awards ceremony of the Olympic Solidarity Advanced Sport Management Course 2019/2020 was held at the National Olympic Committee’s Hemasiri Fernando Auditorium recently. On this momentous where the inner sanctity IOC gospel protruded nineteen young men and women walked aisle to be heralded real Olympic people.
Speaking on the occasion NOC SL’s programme Director B.L.H. Perera explained the concept of course in this manner “The Advanced Sport Management Programme was conducted by the National Olympic Committee could be seen in different perspectives. First you could put it as the responsibility of the National Olympic Committee. Because the National Olympic Committee’s mission statement clearly explains that we are bound to protect and develop Olympism. In that context the Advanced Sport Management Programme is a very timely developed programme conducted by the International Olympic Solidarity movement where the NOCs could benefit out of this course to train senior level managers to conduct sports organisations.”
Meanwhile the Secretary General of the NOCSL Maxwell de Silva delved into the importance of the course and said “I am extremely happy for being able to conduct and successfully complete this programme in spite of the challenges posed by Covid-19 pandemic and actually by doing so we in reality were able to raise the bar of the importance of Olympism.”
Chief Guest of the ceremony was Prof. R.M.U.S.K. Rathnayake, Vice Chancellor of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka and Anuradha Wijekoon – Secretary Ministry of Youth and Sports was invited as the Guest of Honour.
The recipients of the awards were — Lieutenant Commander D.M.J.N. Pinto, Abdellah Yusuf, H. Gehan M. Dias, Reshmin Mihin Amarasinghe, Senaka Ranasingha, Irangani Rupasinghe, D.S. Vitharana, Devni Madurapperuma, Iroshika Namasingha, J.A.S.D. Bandara, Lakna Harindi Hewawaravita, M.G.G.H. Laksara, M.T.P.L, Perera, Udeshika Kaushalya Dantanarayana, V.N. Rajapakse, Sqn.Ldr. Lilangi Randeni, Wing Commander M.R.M. Hamza, P.M.K. Jayawardena from the 5th ASMC 2016/2017 and Hithaishi Jayawardena from 6th ASMC 2017/2018.
