All-rounder Shakib Al-Hasan, James Faulkner, Nicolas Pooran, Sheldon Cottrel and Usman Khawaja are among those high profile cricketers to have registered with the second edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL). The tournament will be held from July 30 to August 22 where all matches will be played at the Hambantota Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium like in the first edition due to COVID pandemic.
Also who have joined the draft are Ben Cutting, Temba Bavuma, Brendan Taylor , Tamim Iqbal, Sherfane Rutherford and Tabraiz Shamsi.
“Last year’s success has certainly made a difference with more players from many cricket playing countries looking forward to play in the LPL, which is a very good sign for the League and Sri Lanka cricket,” Sri Lanka Cricket vice-president Ravin Wickremaratne said in a statement.
Jaffna Stallions emerged the champions at the inaugural edition last year beating Galle Gladiators in a final which SLC says was watched by 135 million across all platforms.
