Defending champions outclassed
Super Fashion Northern Warriors, led by Sri Lanka player Seekkuge Prasanna, pulled off an upset but convincing 61-run win over defending champions Dimo Southern Warriors, as the second Army Commander’s T20 cricket tournament, conducted by the AEMY Sports Committee got underway at the Army cricket ground in Dombagoda yesterday with an early upset.
The match was expected to be a closely contested affair, but it turned to be a one-sided contest. Super Fashion Northern Warriors, batting first, posted a modest score of 142, and bundled out the defending champions for a paltry total of 81.
In another match played in the evening, Event Tv Western Warriors, led by Thisara Perera recorded a comfortable 57-run win over Batsman.com Eastern Warriors. Event Tv Western Warriors batted first and aided with an unbeaten ton by Upul Tharanga, posted a formidable total of 177-6. Batsman.com Eastern Warriors were bowled out for 120 runs.
Today Northern Warriors will take on Eastern Warriors while Southern Warriors will meet Western Warriors.
