Moir in Top 10 UK Schools at both IGCSE & A Level

Not content with maintaining their position as the top-performing international school in the world, students at Elizabeth Moir School have gained better results this year than almost all the best-known and most prestigious schools in the UK, including Eton, Winchester and St. Paul’s. 60% of all papers at A Level were awarded an A* and 89% an A* or A, which would place the school 10th in the UK League tables. At IGCSE, an incredible 65% of all papers received a 9 and 86% an 8 or 9 (the equivalent of an A*), better than all but six out of over 6500 UK schools that offer GCSEs. Given that some top private schools in the UK charge close to Rs. 20 million per year in fees and select only the top students based on stringent entrance examinations at age 11 or 13, achieving better results is astonishing.
At A Level, 12 students achieved 4 A*s and a further 16 3 A*s, meaning that almost half of the school’s 61 candidates will earn an Edexcel Award. 46 out 61 students achieved an A* in at least one subject, with 50 achieving 3 As or better. All the school’s Further Maths students achieved A*s in both Maths and Further Maths, while 80% of its Computer Science candidates earned an A*.
Moir students will win at least 20 World Prizes for scoring the highest mark in the world. Both Amadie Gajanaike and Krsana Bakshani scored full marks in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Overall, Amadie scored full marks in 23 out of 24 papers with an overall average of 99.9% and Krsana full marks in 21 out of 22. An incredible 8 students scored 600/600 in Biology. Jiwoo Won scored 400/400 in History and 399/400 in Economics.

These results helped Moir students earn places last year at Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE, UCL, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Amherst, Princeton, Johns Hopkins and Stanford, among other top universities.
At IGCSE, nine students achieved nine 9s, including Seyara Gunasekera and Navendra Marcelline who gained ten. Fifteen students will receive Edexcel Awards for achieving 7 or more 9s and 26 out of 41 students achieved 7 or more 8s and 9s, equivalent to the old A* grade. Several students are in the running for World Prizes, including Sanithu Mohottige with 99% in Maths and 98% in Computer Science, Navendra Marcelline with 99% in Biology, and Hannah Nallathamby with 98% in History.
